writes: [MOD NOTE: Op's Original Title]I am now 4 months into marriage and I feel lost and depressed over my wife’s lack of sex drive. We have been together for 6 years and we have been battling her dwindling sex drive for the last two years. She started off by seeing a therapist with whom we did some couples counseling with he gave me some advice and behaviors to change to try and encourage her none of which worked. It was then decided that it must be chemical issue, so she went from the pill to the patch to the Nuva ring and back to the pill, she was then put on anti- depressants which did help her over all stress levels but did nothing for her sex drive. Recently she has been seeing her doctor and has had some hormone test done and was shown to be low in testosterone and progesterone I believe and was put a cream to help bring those levels up, that was 2 months ago. She went on the birth control about 6 months in our relationship and it didn’t affect anything until the drastic decrease in sex drive about two years ago.The thing is I am very affectionate person and I have a hard time feeling loved with out sex, and not just sex but mutually enjoyed sex. I love this woman and I truly believe that she loves me but because of this single issue I don’t feel loved and I am at a loss at what to do next.

I also didn't have any sex drive; and my OBGYN prescribed the testosterone cream. I thought it was a waste of time and money. It didn't work at all. Finally, I went to my family doctor and had him run new blood tests that found I had NO measurable testosterone levels. No wonder I was feeling like a roommate rather than a wife! The doctor and I decided to begin aggressively by injecting the testosterone. We began with a lower dosage; that didn't do a thing and went up the the maximum monthly dosage. I've been getting these injections monthly and I'm a new woman. It took aproximately two months for me to notice an increase in my libido. I also believe that I have always had low testosterone. So I'm enjoying having this high libido now and my husband is extremely happy now too! There will be a few side- effects that come with these shots; dark hair upper and lower lip area; which can be taken care of by shaving or laser treatments. You will also have oily skin and acne; treatable with over-the-counter acne products. I hope that once we get my body started making it's own testosterone, most of these side effects will level out. I hope this may help you and your wife. The cream didn't work for me, it may on some people, so you might want to discuss the shot option with your doctor. I have found you have to ask the doctor for what you want, many don't treat it agressively as it needs to be. Wishing you the best with this matter. Stay possitive!

You are doing a great job by showing your concern and love for your wife first.Give it time, maybe she will need to come off of birth contol completely to regain her sex drive.a couple of years is a long time to not feel wanted. I'm sure that's not your wifes intentions. but be careful what you ask for, her sex drive might rise but a screaming baby will definitely kill the mood! I wish you guys the best of luck!!!!
