 I am a great fan of meeting people that are involved in the same interests as you. So join some clubs or take some classes in something you are interested in e.g book club, cooking class, stained glass etc.
Take people up on any social invite you get where there will be a big group of diverse people and do lots of networking which doesn't mean flirting rather talking and finding out things about people.

Just dont rush things as if you are desperate for a girlfriend this is the time when you will least likely get one, you need to act carefree and of course interested in getting to know the girl but play it cool and dont be to over welming.
Just go out with friends and get chatting to girls this is the first major step and get to know some girls then if there is any that you like ask them out.
