I agree that if you don't believe your doctor then you need a different doctor.
FWIW I have had male and female GYN and i Much prefer a male gyn...

If you don't trust your gynecologist because of his gender then change to a gynecologist who is female.
Any physician worth his or her salt will give good medical advice regardless of gender.
Do you actually know the name, dosage, possible side effects and long term implications of the medication you are taking? If not, then it's up to you to get educated. As you've already indicated, you don't trust the male physician so that re-emphasizes the basic truism that you are your best medical advocate.

I am the original poster. I had already seen my gynecologist who is a male. I just wanted the opinion of women who actually take the pill. I am on a bc where there are the brown inactive pills. Overall, he said that it was not a bad thing as birth control in a sense tricks your body into thinking you're pregnant...therefore no period. He also said all women react differently and that he would be concerned if I did not get my period if I was not on bc.

Whoa.
You should be wanting input from your doctor! ASAP!
Go ask! And be honest about your lack of periods... omg, why do people think that unqualified strangers will have great medical advice????
See your doctor ASAP!

There are other variables to factor in such as your weight, hormone balance and the fact that every woman is different. No matter which pill I have tried I have always got my period. You would need to speak with your doctor on this one. I strongly suggest that you do so.

But my doctor had me take it 3 months at a time so I only get my period 4 times a year. It's normal. The pill is meant to stop your period by making your body think you're pregnant. If you take the pill every single day with no breaks you're basically preventing yourself from having your period. It's not a side effect of the pill or anything like that. You need to take the sugar pill breaks if you want to regulate your body into having your period again. However my doctor had often times offered to let me do the year round treatment where i wouldn't get my period at all so it's not anything bad to not get it however you do run the risk of blood clots with any birth control. What I'm saying is it's normal to not get your period but you're the one causing it to not occur by taking the pill every day instead of portions at a time. It's how the pill works

I'd talk to my doctor/GYN since THEY are the ones who prescribed that particular brand. That way you know if everything is fine or not.

I spent a year on a POP - progesterone only pill - and when you take that you have no periods and that is expected and normal. You take the pill every single day, no break.I didn't like it, it was strange so went back to the combined pill. On that you should be taking it for 21 days and then a 7 day break in which you have a period of sorts. You should be aware of what you are taking and what the guides are for taking it - it's your body you're putting it into so make yourself aware of what it is going to do.Find the info leaflet from the packet and read what type of pill you are on etc...if it doesn't answer your question then book an appointment with your doctor and ask them - and also ask them to explain exactly how you should be taking it, what to expect etc...
