writes: guys, do u like tattoos and piercings on a girl?? is a tongue piercing trashy? i want to get my tongue pierced for my 16th birthday in a few months but my boyfriend, who is covered in tattoos but no piercings, says that it will make me look slutty and guys will "get the wrong idea". i already have my belly pierced and each of my ears have 4 piercings in them. i used to have snake bite lip rings but that only lasted a few weeks and i took them out. i dont know what exactly to think. should i get it done even without my boyfriends approval?

you do as you want to, thats what makes us all individuals. i have piercings and tattoo's aswell as my wife does.
she has a couple of tatts that clothing covers when need be. also she has her nipples, ears and nose pierced. i think what looks out of place is when people have huge rings through there nose and lips that tend to look goth or trashy. i like little studs in ladies noses, looks classy and sexy.
best advise i could give you is to google piercing pictures and have a look what you think of them.

reader, anonymous, writes (20 September 2009): I am only a few months older than the girl who asked this question, and as I stated earlier, I have 4 piercings (bridge, tongue, septum and vertical labret). I would not get a tattoo at the age I am now, and I doubt I would at any point in the future, because they are permanent - if you got a tattoo of the ABBA band logo for example, and then greW tired of them 10 years down the line, it would be a disaster. However, this does not apply with piercings - they can be easily removed.
On a general note, I think it would be quite sad to spend your entire life waiting to decide on something, because it is likely than we you finally decide, you have been thrust into the world of suits and offices, and no longer have the freedom to express yourself in this way. You are only young once, so it is better to enjoy yourself, rather that transforming into a cynic at god knows how young, and spending your entire life dwelling on consequences.

If you want it done go for it but remember tounge piercings can chip your teeth if you move the stud along your teeth all the time. My sistes has piercings and tattoos and doesnt look slutty.its your body so if you want it go for it.

Personnaly, I think a high number of piercing is not attrative. Also, you might attract the wrong kind of guy by projecting this image. But yea, if you want to do it, searched for possible consequence, and still want to do it, then do it.

People generally don't notice I have my it pierced though, and I don't lisp, as far as I know anyway? I agree they are not the most elegant piercings, however I rarely notice it so I have left it in.
I think septums are lovely, as well as vertical labrets, and I like snakebites. These would give you a lot more trouble than tongue piercing however, because they are far more "in your face" - excuse the pun.
Oh, and don't listen to your boyfriend - if you want it, go for it.
The only problem with tongue piercings is the healing process, which can be uncomfortable, and be prepared to live on soup for a few days. I barely felt the piercing itself. :)

Relationships don't last forever (usually) and this should definitely be taken into account. It's your body and providing you've reaserched what you want pierced &still want the piercing(s), then go for it. If he can't accept that, then perhaps he's not right for you.
I currently have 21 piercings of my own, along with 3 tattoos. I love the way I look, and feel comfortable with myself. However, most people don't like the way I look, and a lot of them make this quite obvious too. Several boyfriends have told me not to get something pierced but I've never listened to them, purely because it's not upto them. The ones who were worth my time put up with my decision, and the ones that weren't.. left. Simple as that.
If you do get more piercings, please be prepared for negative attention, as they can and do attract it.

personally i agree with your boyfriend that piercings look trashy, well facial piercings anyways. he is also being very hypocritical by telling you that with a lot of piercings. the guy might not always be your boyfriend, so i would go ahead and do what i'd like. the pros and cons about the tounge piercing is that you talk funny with it in, but then again you could take it out for formal events. if i were you, i wouldn't get one, well thats because i never wanted one but if you really want it, go for it. ignore your boyfriend. hope i helped :)
