As you all know in the UK there has been a lot of talk about the lowering of the age of smear tests for cervical cancer. Ireland etc have lowered the age in their country, but England have decided to keep there's as 25.The point of this is that there is a petition on the 10 Downing street website which i thought i would give everyone the option to sign. The link is http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/lowersmeartests/again everyone has their own opinions, and i just thought i could give you the link if you wish to sign.xxx Reply to this Article Share |

England is one of the only places in the world to have the smear test at 25, the majority of developed countries all start testing at 18. As the ages of people having sex gets lower and lower (just look at all the young teens on this site asking about sex!) it is about time the government realised that the age must be lowered, as cervical cancer is going to keep on increasing in younger girls because they have been sexually active for longer.Cervical cancer is almost like an STD; it is a sexually transmitted form of cancer! So the more people you have sex with, the more likely you are to get cervical cancer. It has been proven that in girls who have been sexually active from a young age, their chances of getting cervical cancer is greatly increased. Thanks for putting this link up on here, more people need to be aware of the dangers and hopefully the government will re-consider this age limit of 25 which is completely unacceptable!
