A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Last week my bf and I had unprotected sex (it was the first time), he pulled out before he came, but I was still worried that there could be a chance that I could be pregnant.

I had only just come off my period 2 days before then. I went to a clinic and was given the morning after pill. We had sex again 2 days later, but used a condom this time.

Its been 4 days since then and I've got my period! Its only been like a week since my last one, and now I'm really worried, as I've never taken the pill before I dont know whether thats a normal reaction or something has gone wrong, any help please

I'm really quite desperate! x

A female reader, anonymous, writes (23 March 2009):

Just a word of warning with the morning after pill (if you have the need to use it again in the future)... if you've not already ovulated when you take it, it will push your ovulation back, so what ends up happening is you think you're protected, but if you have unprotected sex again later in that month, you could end up with the very problem you're trying to avoid.

In your case, you're fine, but just be aware that this can happen.

Ravenxx91 agony auntthats normal. The fact you had a period is confirmation your not pregnant (plus i think the morning after pill basically makes the lining of the womb unable to emplant an egg which can result in a period.)

jessica04 agony auntThe morning after pill is pretty much a super concentrated birth control pill, so sometimes it can affect you little "ecosystem".

Go back to the clinic to talk with the nurse about it. She can better clear up any questions you have. Ive never experienced that whenever I took the morning after pill, but everyone is different. Just coming off your period may have something to do with it as well.
