"Climax is the top most point of an orgasmic experience"

They sorta the same thing, they are used interchangably.

A reader, Rebecca Batchelor +, writes (9 October 2005):

Rebecca Batchelor agony auntIf 20% of women can have an orgasm solely through penetration (i.e, not through any stimulation of her clitoris at all) then that means there is such thing as a vaginal orgasm!

Sorry Bev, think you may have contradicted yourself!

A female reader, Bev Conolly Australia +, writes (9 October 2005):

Bev Conolly agony aunt1. No difference. The terms are used interchangably.

2. There's no such thing as a "vaginal" orgasm. That was a myth promulgated since Victorian times and since disproved. To reach orgasm, a women needs stimulation of her clitoris, although her pleasure can certainly be heightened by penetration. Recent surveys of women have indicated that only about 20% can have an orgasm solely through penetration, though. The other 80% either require stimulation of their clitoris, or don't reach orgasm through sex at all. So, that's very, very common... but not so strange when you think of it. If a woman had a lot of nerve endings in her vagina (enough to give her an orgasm), childbirth would be impossible!

3. Anal sex isn't dangerous if it's done between two willing partners who do it carefully, slowly and with a condom and plenty of lubrication; however, the anus isn't really designed for things to go *into*, and anal sex isn't for everyone. As far as "danger", there's certainly potential for spreading infections, from everything from fecal bacteria to HIV and other blood-borne diseases. And for the receptive partner, there's the danger of fissures, or tears, around the anus, which can lead to other infections.

Hope that this helps answer your questions.
