He does get hard very quickly again, but he says there's not much feeling, so even with stimulation, he just doesn't come. But he did keep getting spontaneous erections after that, but I couldn't bring him to orgasm until the next morning really,(though I was too tired in the middle of the night when he woke me up wanting some attention.) Would love to hear some advice on more techniques to help him, I feel awful that he can't reach the end.

Here's a guide which should help him learn that the delay in being able to ejaculate has nothing to do with stimulation but is simply the body's necessary recovery phase. http://www.webmd.com/sex-relationships/guide/sexual-health-your-guide-to-sexual-response-cycle
A little education may help you understand the physiology of the orgasm and the period which follows. Good luck!

sounds normal to me
besides lovemaking is not always about the orgasm.
you don't need better techniques just a better understanding of male physiology.

It's called the refractory period, it can be shorter in younger men and apparently gets longer as men age.
Don't feel "awful," it's natural.

Perfectly normal even when a lot younger.
