Im a guy and when I'm told that a girl likes me (Not being cocky it happens a lot)its hard to know how to react, if you say the wrong thing you can really upset them, if you like them back and you instantly jump in you may come in as too eager or are too nervous, you may also not like them and not want to hurt them, so you just try to forget about them (the last one is normally the reason)About the challenge this I don't think that normally happens unless its a guy with a huge EGO.Also if he does like you he is waiting for you to make the first move, boys are normally too nervous and want the woman to do all the work.

Ugh that happened to me before. I hated that. And then the guy would get all cocky. Just ignore the weird behavior and move on. You deserve someone more mature and more able to communicate what's going on with him.

When you ask se him is he alone or with mates?(he might me too shy now he knows how you he about him)

Guys like a challenge, sometimes they will chase just for the sake of chasing. Now that he knows you fancy him, you are not a challenge anymore- he's caught you already.
But not all guys are like that. So don't be discouraged.
