doctors by law are not allowed to tell anything to anyone due to the data protection act, this applies to the secretaries and your school.

Make an appointment with the docs. they will help you.

skye agony auntHello Sweetheart,

No one will be able to tell whether you are pregnant or not for a little while yet. You are still young so your cycle can be irregular and as such you can miss periods and not be sure of your dates.

Im sure I dont need to tell you how irresponsible you where for having unprotected sex. I know you are frightened about a possible pregnancy and realise you should have taken proper precautions; however please use condoms in future to protect yourself from STD's aswell. Speak with your doctor or nurse to get all the relevant information about what is right for you.

Ok, we need to deal with the situation you now find yourself in. The best way of doing this is to wait until 19 days after having unprotected sex and if you have not started your period take an early detection pregnancy test. Dont do a test before this time has elasped because you could get a false negative reading. I know this is a long time to wait when you are so very worried, but there really is no other way. These tests are very sensitive and around 99.9% accurate. The same tests you can buy in chemists are used by medical professionals in your doctors surgery. If you still do not get your period 4 days later, repeat the test.

If you are pregnant, please tell your mum and make an appointment with your doctor. You and your baby deserve the best medical treatment you can get. If you are negative, then please let this scare serve as a warning to you to find out about birth control methods and use the right ones for you.

Please tell your mum in the mean time. She can help you so much more.

I hope you get the result you are hopeing for.

Take care,

Skye

A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (5 August 2007):

DrPsych agony auntThe problem is that you could have ovulated this month and be due for a period in the next few weeks...irregular periods are no antedote to pregnancy unfortunately. When your next period would be due it would be wise to take a pregnancy test. If you continue to not have periods it is important you see a doctor to have some blood tests for hormone imbalances. The reason is that you can have a build up of the lining of the womb from not having periods that leads to a condition called endometrial hyperplasia. A doctor can give you a pill to make you have a period for your health if needed. Next time you have sex, think how anxious you are right now about pregnancy and use some protection.

A male reader, DJ8433 United States +, writes (5 August 2007):

DJ8433 agony auntf you've ever had a period in the past, then you can get pregnant now. You're chances of getting pregnant are 50/50. Don't have unprotected sex until you are ready to have children. Please talk to an adult that you trust about having sex or go to a planned parenthood or STD clinic to get ALL your questions answered.
