A male United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I have a hairy chest and i want to see how it looks without hair, so ive decided to shave it.

I dont know if im going the right way but i am using a razor and found out it hurts alot, and its leaving alot of little red bumps. IS this normal and will go away or am i doing something wrong.

And is waxing easier?

A male reader, bookaltd United Kingdom +, writes (27 June 2008):

It's possible you are getting ingrown hairs which then irritate the skin causing these red bumps. This is especially the case when you have curly hair (like me :P). Waxing or depilatory creams would be better for you. If you use the cream make sure you test it on a small section of skin to make sure that you aren't allergic to it! Obviously waxing ill hurt a bit and may leave your skin tender and red for a whilebut you are guaranteed smooth skin and less likelihood of ingrown hairs.
