 Unless your putting a machine together, do NOT us silicon based lubricant..... and I ASSUME that you are talking about lubricating your body!!!!
Use a WATER-based lubricant, like K-Y or Astroglide!!!....

Partners have given me good feedback on KY Intrigue, so that is the lube I recommend. It is silicone based, so is OK with latex condoms. I have found it works well for vaginal and anal intercourse, and has good staying power for longer sex sessions. It even works well underwater. You can buy it on Amazon for much less than you will find it in a local store.
As far as toys, I can't really answer that one. I will say that investing $30-60 (or more even) for a good vibrator is worthwhile if you want something that lasts.

Why not use a search engine and search for a local 'adult' themed store. This store should have information about the items you are researching AND they should be able to answer questions about the products they have available.

 I don't know about lube, I usually buy the cheap stuff. Look an Amazon.com or Drugstore.com to read reviews. I've rarely been steered wrong by those. You can also go to various lube websites and if you email them they will almost always send you a small sample to try.
Sex toys, the Eroscillator without question. Pricey and weird-looking, but it's the best on the market.
