I built up my confidence after some help from parents and mentor and I am now more confident in all forms of life (except dating) than before the problem.I know some girls find me attractive but when you've been off the maket for sometime, you forget a few things.Based on past experience I've never dated anyone that I met in a bar or nightclub as most aren't after a long term relationship so I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

Bars and nightclubs are dreadful places to meet anyone you want to seriously get to know. It is much better to meet someone on campus- or in an activity you do ( say a sport or something). And these days, on line can be useful too.
Just start by trying to be friends. Find out what they like to do, and start by doing something fun together... a fun day swimming, or cycling, or at the museum, or at the movies, or at the gaming arcade... whatever you are both into. When you are having fun, you will both relax. Take it from there. If it is good, try for another one... let it build.
