My boyfriend has not said anything but sometimes I am scared to let him go down on me when I smell this way in case it turns him off.I don't think there is anything wrong with me as my vagina doesn't smell fishy all the time.Do any other women out there have this problem?

I was with a woman last night who usually smelled tasty. Yet, this time she smelled like rotten fish/eggs. I gagged out loud and just about threw up. It had to be the worst smell I have ever encountered in my life. She did happen to have her usual 'prep' time as she calls it which includes showering but in this case perhaps she had an infection.
My advice as others have recommended is to go see a doctor if your regular cleaning routine doesn't do the trick.
Also, for the love of all things good ladies......for pete sake...smell yourself before you have your man over.

BV is a build up of bacteria in the vagina. Sometimes you will get a thin, milky discharge accompanied by a 'fishy' odour. Go see your Doctor and get it checked out and he/she will probably prescribe medicine like Flagyl (either pills or cream or both). Good luck with that. As a guy, I don't like the smell personally so I can appreciate it's distressing for you.

If you have done that, the great. Now here are some factors that can cause odor, first, thong underwear. The string acts like a wick that allows for bacteria and sweat to travle to your vagina. This can lead to odor and puts you at risk for UTI and yeast infection. Too tight pants are a bad idea too, camel toe is not cute, and your vagina cannot breath, so it sweats and stinks. Do not douch with anything but vinigar and water! Your bacteria down there are helping you, not hurting you. Also, only wash the outer vagina region-the labia and in between, do not go into the canal with soap that irritates the mucous membranes. Okay-now rinse rinse rinse. Turn the shower off and sit down in the tub if you do not have a handheld. Slosh the water around you area and butt to get all soap out, dry really well and put on clean pantys, cotton is always the best. Shaving or trimming helps air you out too. Also wash after sex-semen in there begins to smell rotten. Oh and eat yogart, it helps your friendly bactetria

He asked what was that , and i was already embarrassed enough so i told him the smell of cum. I don't know how to get rid of it ?Should i ask the doctors?

She didn't always have a smell this is a new occurance. I'm thinking she may have a vaginal infection. I set up an appointment for her to go see a gyno. this week so hopefully I don't have to suffer much longer.
if the smell is present when your aroused, thats perfectly normal, if the smell comes a couple weeks after your cycle thats normal as well. If you have this smell any other time you may want to seek professional care.

Ive been with the same guy for a 1 1/2 now and errtime we take a shower he just puts anti-bacterial soap into a squirt water bottle then fills it up with water, shakes it up a bit and squirts it in me to clean me out!! Dueshes work as well but they arent good for your body so dont use them too often!!

It is something in the soap that kills natural bacteria fighting "things" thus causing the smell. It is suggested that you stop using the soap and it will go away in a few weeks. If it does not.....could be an infection that needs treatment.

You may have thrush or another infection. Go and see your doctor and they can test you. If you don't have an infection you may have to clean down there a little more often then what you are :)

reader, anonymous, writes (28 June 2007): You most likely have bacterial vaginosis, usually it is caused because a woman's anus is so near her vagina, wiping front to back when using the toilet helps, and making sure you shower or are very clean down there before having sex (all that thrusting can get that bacteria in there) will help.....you need some medication from your doctor to make it go away, don't feel bad it happens, it is part of a woman's plumbing that we have to deal with at times.

But I did see a female doc as it was bothering me and she just prescribed me some anti-biotics for a week and it cleared up after that, she said it was 'bacterial vaginosis'.
Can even be caused by a change in shower gel products and things like that, as its just a bacterial infection - I would get it checked though if I were you as is can be left but it won't just go away. Be rid of it!
