Hi, i was just wandering whether anyone can help. I noticed that on my vagina i have a lump that is sore and inflammed it doesn't hurt when i pee or anything and i don't have an unpleasant odour or discharge it's just sore to touch. I've had this lump before and it is always on the same side and always the same symptoms and eventually it goes away. I have only slept with one guy and he said he only slept with me and we always used condoms, could i have contracted an STI? Please help

I have this same problem. Had it before. It is not an STI. I went to the doctor and he said that it is because I have an ingrown hair or something. If it was herpes or warts it would either have burst and be exuding pus(herpes) or be very defined if it was a wart...

I have exactly the same problem, and it is extremely annoyoing. What I want to know is why doe it keep coming back??? It's not as if I'm not clean/hygenic. I'm not in a sexual relationship so it can't be anything to do with that... it normallyhappens after a period, I have also have problems with thrush repreatedly. It is annoying (and getting very expensive!) and confusing why this keeps happening! :(

No, I don't believe that you have an STI. It sounds like a cyst, a very common thing. It is probably from an infected hair or sweat gland. (Usually very tender, swollen and sometimes has a reddish or purplish color to it.) My best advice, keep it clean and as dry as possible, don't poke it or squeeze it, and soak it in the tub once or twice a day if it isn't too painful. You may try, although it sounds weird, to apply a hot tea bag to the area a couple of times a day too. Yes, a hot tea bag, as warm as you can handle. There is something in the tea that acts as a drawing agent and will help the cyst either come to a head or go away. If the above doesn't work in a few day to relieve the symptoms, or reduce the swelling, by all means see your physician. It doesn't sound like anything alarming to me... but to be on the safe side make an appointment if it doesn't improve.
