My period problem...

Question - (12 December 2009) 7 Answers - (Newest, 12 December 2009)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Eh, this is a bit awkward, so please i am very sorry if it is too much info.

I have irregular periods, meaning I have a period about once every 3 months, well, I started using vitex (chasteberry) a while back, and my period began on time, (it was a little weird though, it was just off and on for a couple of days, my periods usually last about 7 days)

Well, towards the end of my "period", I began having very thick, stretchy, pink-tinted discharge, sort of mucus like.

And i have been having it for the last week, but now i'm just like, really wet down there (sorry tmi) what could it be?

i have been having headaches, and my eyes hurt soooo much, like I havent been getting enough sleep, but the thing is I even take NAPS now due to being so sleepy, and everday at random times either one or both of my breasts start aching, if they rub against my bra or something.

could this all be connected? does it sound like an std or could it be due to the vitex?

I dont feel threatened by this, so im in no rush to see a doc, I would just like some opinions.

thanks

xo

Oh man. Well I think im going to wait about 2 more weeks to take a test.

This morning im not having the thich stuff, just the really sticky wet stuff (sorry) and I quit taking the vitex about 2 days ago. And no, its not a prescription, I just take it to help me with my hormones, and it really has helped.

Just one more thing, I was thinking this was a prescribed medicine...I really think you should read this because I agree with the other poster that you could be pregnant and if you are, it could be harmful to the fetus:

Not to mention the unprotected sex, the pills shouldn't give you those side effects. Good luck.

Oooh, the OP's response was posted after I wrote my response...I think you definitely need to take a pregnancy test.

Those sound like pregnancy symptoms, but sometimes the pill can do that too. It defnitely sounds like it's hormonal and probably not an STD. I wouldn't advise to suddenly stop taking your prescription. Call your doctor or the advice nurse first, tell them what's going on that way they can tell you if what's happening to you is a side effect and that way they can put you one something else. I think if you just stop taking it suddenly it could screw things up even more.

Make an appointment with your gynecologist ASAP. If you do not have insurance there should be a free program through your health department. Look it up under your state or county in the phone book. My state will also pay for your birth control if you are low income.

Birth control will also regulate your period. Many people are placed on the pill for this reason, rather than using it for birth control. The pill may also make your period shorter, mine is now only about 3 days. Every person reacts differently to each medication, hence, if you are not happy with yours, call and make another appointment.

mamaof2 agony auntHoney to me it sounds like you are pregnant. I've been though it twice and all that is the signs of being pregnant. I would make a doctors appointment asap. You need to find out just in case you are so you don't do anything to hurt the baby. Just to be sure make that appointment.

I'm not on any meds, and eh, dont critisize me for this, but I've been having unprotected sex for the last 4 months. I know its dumb, I dont need to be told that lol.
