writes: Hi!I was just wondering if anyone had any advice. I'm meeting my boyfriend for a romantic night away in 2 days but my period is just about to start. I have a really irregular cycle at the moment so there was no way i thought it would come this week. I still really want to see him but how do i tell him that i cant sleep with him...should i tell him now or when we get there? sorry i'm just a little embarassed.

You could use a menstrual cup, such as Instead's softcup. Then, you can have sex, with a period and he need never know!

or if you're due on and on the pill take another pack in a row to keep the damn period away.

I would tell him now but its definety nothing to be embarresed about every woman has a period and everyone knows that. And just so you know just because your on your period doesnt mean you cant have sex i know it sounds gross but if you get killer cramps sex helps and it makes your period shorter just use towels underneath you.

reader, anonymous, writes (1 January 2008): i know this sounds disgusting but loads or people still have sex while on their period. it's fine as long as niether of you has an sti, just hold a towel underneath yourself. apparantly whilst on you period is the best time to have sex as your senses are heightened at that time of the month. also it releives stomach cramps

hey sweetie there is no reason to be embressed most girls get there period, but you should just tell him now that you have your period and you dont want to do anything. And i am sure you can work around it.
