They are widely know to be innacurrate at times, like Lie Detectors are inaccurate.
They exist to give warning. So if they turn up positive, you go to a DOCTOR to confirm.
So see the Doctor if you are worried and they can give you a definite answer.

Are you stressed? On any other medication? Is there anything that may be affecting your body clock at the minute? I would say try not to worry too much, it will come, have a test done at the doctors if you need to put your mind at rest and always use protection in the future to save you this stress again. x

Sometimes pregnancy tests can run false negatives. But if you have done several, it makes it less likely.
Several things can cause a late period besides pregnancy.
it really depends on how old you are, but some of the the things are:
1. Menopause (if you are over 40) which means you are stopping having your periods for good, or ending your ability to reproduce.
2. Stress - extreme stress can cause a period to be late, or skipped all together If you are very worried about things at work or school or in your marriage, or whatever, then you could cause you period to be late. the subsequent worry about your late period could cause it to be even later!
3. Your diet - If you are not getting enough nutrients from the food you eat, you may find you have late or very light periods. Also if you eat a large quantity of fatty foods, you could cause a disruption in your menstrual cycle. If you are bulimic or anorexic you could stop having your periods all together from lack of nutrients and vitamins, and from being too underweight (causes hormones to shut down. If you are anorexic or bulimic you need to talk to a health professional, or admit yourself to a rehab center right away.
4. A change in hormones - or some reason your estrogen levels may be up or down, and this may cause you to have a late period. this could be caused by many things though it is generally not healthy and you should see a Dr. about possible ovarian cysts or uterine problems.
What you should do is go to your Ob-Gyn and get a pregnancy test done in the office (the blood test kind). They are very accurate, and will definitively tell you whether you are pregnant or not. If you test negative at the Dr. for pregnancy, they will probably run some blood tests to check your hormone levels and do an ultrasound to check you insides (neither of which are a big deal or painful and are over very quickly)
