writes: hi i am living with my partner for the last 5 yrs. We are in a relationship for nearly 10 years we have one girl who is 6. Our relationship has hit rock bottom cause he has choosen drink before me too many times. What i would like to know is the house we are living in is his left to him by his mother when she died. Technically if your name is not on the ownership deeds to the house then he can throw you out but he still has a duty to support your daughter. That is, assuming Irish law is the same as English law. However youwill not end up on the street. I'm sure you have some family you could go and stay with or maybe your local council could help you. Please don't go back to him just so that you get to stay in the house. If he has an alcohol problem neither of you are safe there and you're better off elsewhere.
