I'm not sure what to do. I registered to be an extra in a film, or Supporting Artist, as it's also known . They filmed some scenes yesterday in London , and they are filming some tomorrow and a week on Saturday. I registered to do the scenes a week on Saturday. The problem is, i dont know London very well, and i'm worried that i might get lost. I'll have to travel there alone, and i dont live anywhere near there. I'm also worried about being alone once i get there as well, when we aren't filming, as i know that sometimes, you have to wait around the set for a long time. I didnt know until after i registered that this actor i like, is in the film too, as i checked the cast list on another website. I also havent worked as any extra before, or done any acting work on tv at all, so i'm not sure if i can do it. I have acted in plays at school, and in local theatre groups, and studied Performing Arts at college, but i havent done any acting at all for years. Do you think it would be ok for me to go and do this? Has anyone here ever worked as an extra, or do you have an interest in working as one?

hi. thanks for your reply. i received a message from someone who said that they worked on the film as an extra yesterday , and the job was unpaid , so i'm not sure whether to do it or not. i'm not sure if you get any meals either, but they said it was poor hospitality.

Jmtmj agony auntI did it once for a crappy low budget film. It was boring as anything, everybody had to do the same thing over an over and honestly- don't worry about your acting ability... generally extras just do all the normal boring people stuff in the back ground like buying coffee, walking, nodding, pretending to converse, fake laughing etc.

But it was an experience, we all got tea and biscuits and somewhere out there on an old VCR tape I may or may not be on it. Woohoo!! I'm awesome :P

If ya want to do it, then just do it. It doesn't pay well from what I hear, but then again its not particularly hard either.
