reader, anonymous, writes (22 December 2007): We do need more details but I wonder if I can offer some advice - i am in a very long distance relationship and it is so hard because you hang on every thing they say or do and things can become exagerrated because you think about them in between conversations. It is important to use all communication methods available and be absolutely clear - sometimes writing things down, sending a good old fashioned letter or if not an email to get some of your feelings across. Think of new ways to spend time communicating or showing how you feel. Being patient and tender is really vital because emotions are raw and physical needs for affection are not being met. Living through it myself right now I can admit it is quite a rollercoaster and deep down I wish I wasn't having to have this kind of relationship. I hope this helps.
