As far as im aware you cant have it reversed on the nhs, my friend had to pay £2000 and go private to have his reversed. after a few years , the chances of a succesful reversal are very slim, 12 years is a long time.

I was actually single when I had my vasectomy done, I had made my decision without any pressure from anyone else, sometimes its the best way.

They do tell you that a vasectomy is 99% no going back on it when you sign the documents for it doing. The nhs vasectomy is the traditional closed ended type , so very difficult to reverse as they tend to cut a lot of the vas def down before they cauterise and suture it , the open ended vasectomy is more sucessful to reverse because they dont cauterise one end so live sperm is still produced vut cannot swim up the ejaculatory canal, because it is this end which is cauterised, this type of vasectomy is carried out privately as it is mainly aimed at men who may want a reversal in the future, it is also the type of vasectomy that carries the greater failure rate, as sometimes the testicular end can recanal and join up again but this is still rare, I was speaking to a Vasectomist who carries this type of vasectomy out and he told me that out of 600 open ended vasectomies he performed there were only 3 failed ones, because the spermatic cord(the vas def )is cut right down to the testicle.

I wish you and your chap success but speak to a doctor and also check out the reversal stories on the internet.
