writes: Hiya, I really need some help. Lately my stomach has gotten bigger and bigger. I kept getting headaches of an evening and constant backache (I have never had either of these before). I need to go to the bathroom like all the time, I feel nauseous quite often, foods I usually love make me feel sick at just the smell. My last period wasn't right it was very light and only lasted a couple of days. Done numerous hpts, all negative. Refuse to go the docs, as last time I went for blood test, it came back negative he convinced me I wasn't pregnant. A couple of weeks later I miscarried. I've spoken to him over the phone and he says no no hpts are very accurate. I just need someone's opinion, please do you think I could be pregnant?

I am having all the same symptoms that you all are I have got a son of 16 and a daughter of 10 now my husband and I have been trying for 2 years now and I have done test after test and all come back negative went to gp last Tuesday and there test came back neg to now they were gonna do a full set of bloods till he realised I had to go hospital to get them done because of being a recovering drug addict of just over 3 years. Now I have a swollen tummy that looks like I am pregnant plus I got movements and feel pregnant I am booked in for a scan next Tuesday but just don't know what to do for the best should I go to hospital and get them to do it sooner or what??? Please help me as I have to be watched carefully if I am as I never carry to term and have had to have c sections with both many thanks

reader, anonymous, writes (25 September 2010): I am having all of the same symptoms that you all are having. I also took a HPT this morning, surprise, surprise...it came back negative. I just don't know how early is to early to tell? There is a chance that we could all be suffering from a Pseudo-Pregnancy. That is were we've all convinced ourselves in our heads that we are pregnant, feel all of the symptoms, miss our periods, send our hormones out of whack, except there is no actual baby. I suggest doing a little research on this matter, maybe find some guidance through that. Best bet though, is to see a doctor.

My husband n I have been trying to conceive for over 2 years!
I am 6 days late for my period. had spotting about 7days after possible conception and have sensitive breast! also experiencing headaches.

reader, anonymous, writes (19 July 2010): i definately know what your going through. me and my boyfriend had protected sex and im on birth control which you would assume would pretty much eliminate any chance of getting pregnant, this was about a month and a half ago, i had a shortened period a couple days after having sex but im late this month and for the past month approximately i've been feeling nauseous alot and eating doesnt help, i've also had back aches, headaches, and my description of my stomach discomfort is it feels like a cell phone is in my stomach and it vibrates every so often. i took 2 hpts and they both came up negative i was also wondering is it too early to tell?? cuz me and my boyfriend just broke up about 3 days ago and i dont even dare to say anything to him cuz i feel that he will assume its an attempt to get him back.... but i dont care about getting him back i just want to know whats going on with me and if im pregnant i want a healthy baby cuz although we split up i still plan to keep it if i am pregnant.... i just need some answers...

reader, anonymous, writes (17 July 2010): I am in the same postion. I think hpts are crap. I've taken 5 and they all say negative (and I think I'm about 6wks along). Even a girl I work with took hpts and it didn't show she was pregnant till she was almost 3 months pregnant. Now she is 6.5months along.
I think they can work but they are not 100% (well that's my opinion) I think you could be pregnant..

I had the same thing happen 3 years ago... I was pregnant i took SEVERAL hpt's and they ALL came back negative, I was 2 months pregnant before I got a positive test. I have a friend and an aunt that had the same thing happen to also, one was 6 months pregnant before she found out, and the other was 7 months pregnant. Once again Im in the same position! But the best bet is to go to the doctor. Good Luck, I hope everything works out for you!

Hi, okay I'm 18 I have all those symptoms but weight gain. I'm still averaging the same. I don't necessarily have the answer to your question but I have one of my own maybe you can answer. I had a one day period they day after I had sex unprotected. And I'm usually very regular 3 days long in the middle of every month so it was a week early. Boy friend got nervous and want to test right away, so it was to soon to show up positive. So now its been 2 weeks today took a urine pregnancy test at the hospital and it was negative. I still feel like I am and everyone I know has asked if I was and have no clue I think I am. I'm unsure of what to do from here. I'm iratible, Nauseas, back pain, mild tenderness in my breast, and always sleeping or trying to.

hi girl by the sound of ur message u are i was in the same position 2 and a half years ago now and didnt find out i was pregnant till i was 4 months gone n had a bump and i was doing test after test but everyone come back neg but the test were wrong ive now got a beautiful little girl. so all i can advise really girl is rest eat health n take ur folic acid n keep testing urself if still no show n keeps coming up neg wait til u start getting a belly then go shove that in the doctors face as i did n demand a scan hope this help n good luck girl

reader, anonymous, writes (13 June 2008): Hiya...I work in an Ob/Gyn practice...and it sounds like you have all the classic symptoms of pregnancy...It is common for a urine preg. test to be negative but in your case the only way to know for sure is to have a beta hcg test which is done by means of a blood draw. With a history of a miscarriage you should find out asap. so proper follow up care is administered and the progress of the baby...if you are pregnant...can be followed.

Hi, you are not crazy, well at least i hope not becuase my period is actually due in two days and i too am getting all the sysptoms of pregnancy the same as you and feel as though i am going mad and am quite upset that they advertise the hpt as 99% acurate when in fact they dont help women like ourselves. I am nervous too of having to go to the doctors as they are not helpful in this area or sympathetic. I will be doing a test saying that everyday until i get a positive as these sypmtoms are too strong to be anything else or insignificant. Keep trying with the tests or go the your local family planning department which is what i will be doing as soon as my period is late, im sure its not coming as i normally have migraines before it arrives and coloured discharge but i have nothing.

hi all i have 2 children a boy aged 6 and a girl aged 8.
And did loads of tests while pregnat on them both but all negative everytime so ended up having a blood test which confirmed i was pregant.must not have the hormaones in my urine to make a possative home test.i am now feeling like i am pregnant again having all the symtoms but once again 4 pregnancy tests and negative ,even though if i am i would be about 8-9 weeks. so got a blood test in a few days. its really hard because i got pcos and i dont have many periods at all so when you get asked by your gp the last period its like ummmm months and months ago.

Hi,
I am a mother of 2 girls aged 12 & 14 years.
I have been trying for a baby since may 07, I have now missed 3 periods. I did roughly 20 preg tests all within the first month after missing my 1st period and had 2 positive results and 18 neg. Went to docs to get a blood test done at 6 weeks late of my period and results were neg. Still no period 3 mths down the line. Had another blood test done 1 week ago just to test my hormone levels as they have said I am definately not preg, waiting for the results which are due back fri this week and have a scan booked in for may 19th. This scan is to check for tumours, cycsts etc as they say I am NOT pregnant. I feel tired all the time, stomach only slightly rounder, constipated, pain lower stomach and lower back. I feel pregnant!!! Can the blood test and the urine tests be wrong even 6 weeks after missing a period?? Please help !!!!

can anyone help me. i have been trying for a baby for over 4 years. this year we were going to get the tests done, but i havent come on this month. My last period was around the 19 dec 07. i have done 3 hpt and they have all come out negative. The only symptons i have apart from the obvious is back ache, tiredness, constipation (but i suffer from that anyway from time to time) and i get dull aches in my stomach. i would really appreciate your advice. thank you.

First let me tell you that I take seasonique birth control, which gives you your period every 3 months. this month, a few days before I was supposed to get it, I just had dark brown spotting for about 5 days. along with this, I had a lot of pregnancy symptoms and extreme PMS symptoms which I don't understand because I am on birth control. anyways I started getting nauseous randomly (but not throwing up) sore big boobs, sensitive nipples, back aches, but the things is I started bleeding on my pill period (3 days late) this was very light and only lasted 3 days. HPT is still negative!!! I don't know what to think. hang in there girl

according to my monthlys i am 27 weeks pregnant. I can feel the baby move around. When the daddy of the baby talks the baby moves. i have felt the baby have hiccups and have all of the weird symtoms, including the tiredness. I sleep for two to three hours at a time during the day and i did that during my last pregnancy too. my fingernails have grown like crazy, my sense of smell is very strong. I am emotional, well more than usual. My stomach is round like i have a basketball inside it. This is my third so i think i would know what it is like to be pregnant. But the tests keep coming up negative. My tubes were tied 9 years ago but the doc told me it is not guaranteed and not to go looking for her if my tubes come undone and i get pregnant. I have no insurance and am wondering if i need to go to the health department to get a blood test done.

reader, anonymous, writes (27 December 2007): Hi there, I am having ALL the signs of Pregnancy! I had light pink spotting 1 week before my period was due. I am now 2 weeks late from my 'regular' period & I have been crying over 'anything', my breasts are swollen & tingly, I am soooo tired all the time, moody, headaches & my belly is starting to bloat (i've got 3 beautiful children already in my marriage).
I did the Home Pregnancy Test today and it came out negative. I called a Nurse at the Hospital & she told me that she had 'all negative' home pregnancy test results until she was 11 weeks pregnant. Everyone is different!
Her daughter is now 4 years old, healthy & happy.
She told me to wait another week & test again or just go see the Doctor to get a blood test.
I did the Home PT in the afternoon which could have added to the negative result. They say morning is best..but sometimes the body produces low levels of the pregnancy hormone resulting in 'false negatives'. It is always best to get the 'blood test'...it's much more accurate! :)

reader, anonymous, writes (2 November 2007): i am also goin through the same thing,i am 8days late. i have jus took a pregnancy test 10mins ago and it came up neg...however, a few years ago i done one of these tests and it told me i was pregnant, however when i went to the doctor i wasnt. i am going to take another test next friday and i suggest doing another one the following week to see and if nothing again then see ur doctor.

I am having some of the same problems. I last had sex in July (cuz I'm scared to death). In august I was 8 days late. I had a very light period that only lasted 2 1/2 days. I have not had a period since then. It is now october and no period. I have taken 4 home test and they all say negative. I have tried not to think about it, but its hard. I have been really tired, eating strange things, hungry ALL the time, and after I eat I feel sick. I am also going to the bathroom all the time, and my lower stomach sometimes feels like its got butterflies in it.Like little flutters. I have never been pregnant before, and I'm scared that i may be now. I know that the test have all said no, but is it possible to be pregnant and a home test not be able to detect it even at almost 3 months? I dont want to go to the doctor if its not possible. I am hoping that my body is just changing!! Please help!!

My stomach is really big but not when i lay down (i have hips which are big) my back aches, varacus veins on my legs and i hear noises from my stomach!! The one symptom that really worries me is my strong sense of smells, i've never had my smell senses so strong before. I had unprotected sex a month ago but i was on birth control. Two weeks later i had my normal period then I stopped taking the pills for 4 days last week and I started bleeding heavy like a period for about 3or 4 days. I started taking the pills again but i'm super nauseaus and i have really bad headaches for a month now (like migraines)which i hadn't had in years. I did an hpt and it came out negative. Could all this just be b/c I stopped the pills and then started them again. I also have very bad cramps, dizziness and upset stomach.

HI having been pregnant before i really don't think that you are pregnant. If this is your first child then you would probably not start showing until about 4 months also back pain usually occurs later on in the pregnancy. If you were far enough along to be showing then it would show up in a pregnancy test. Most common early signs are breast tenderness, missed period, constipation. Honestly i think that you need to see a doctor if possible see a differnt doctor to last time (maybe a women doctor). You need to find out if you are and if your not then what is causing these symptoms. Goodluck

 There are family planning clinics where you could see a doctor who would have more expertise in the area than your GP. If you don't want to go to them either then try an early detection pregnancy test. They are not 100% accurate no matter what it says on the box. you may have done something that will affect the results, these home testing kits can be very tempremental. I know, I sell them. Basically your best bet is to see a doctor. Good Luck!!

 If you are pregnant the tests should pick up levels of hcg hormone in the blood. It is only in rare cases that it does not. Chances are you need to take a urine specimen to you GP and see if you are pregnant there to put you mind at rest. Or you can buy a very early pregnancy test which is super-sensitive to hcg. Just ask at your local pharmacy and they will point you in the right direction.

 Maybe the hormone levels in your blood just aren't high enough to tell on the tests yet. Obviously if you are sexually active and having all of those symptoms there is a chance that you are pregnant, but if I were you I would get to the doctor ASAP. If you don't trust the doctor you have then get a new one, if you are pregnant you need to get care for yourself and your unborn child from a doctor you trust. Good luck.
