writes:My girlfriend and I were talking recently and she told me that her periods only last 2 days and are always light.Does this mean she is less fertile or could have problems conceiving? She is 32. I have never heard of girls having such short, light periods. She did have an abortion at 19 but as far as I know there were no complications.

I'm glad it seems normal, yes in reply, she has been on and off birth control for the last 10 years. The pill didn't really change her period. Anyhows, hopefully in the next few years we'll be looking at having a child and it will all go great =) Thanks again.

Some women do. Especially if they're on birth control, that can happen. Certain birth control pills can make periods only last that long, or if she has a IUD her periods can be that way. OR, she could be one of those lucky ladies that just naturally has a short/light period. I really don't think it's an indication of her fertility. If her periods were really long and heavy, that could be a problem.

 Oh - should add, I have not been on any b/c for three years so it is not a pill or anything causing it. When I was taking depo shots I did not have periods at all.

Mine are 2-3 days tops and virtually not even there after the first day. Blooming brilliant I rekon lol!
I got pregnant on the first attempt after going off birth control too, so no, I can't see it an an indication of there being any fertility problems at all.

Pills such as Microgynon and Yasmin make periods very light and very short. In fact they are not even true periods.
