A female reader, Martha Booth United Kingdom +, writes (17 February 2009):

Obviously, your friend rates your opinion highly yet you feel uncomfortable by what she is asking of you. Kissing is a very sensitive area, particularly when first embarking on relationships.

Many young people experiment with friends of the same sex about intimate things and are not homosexual in persuasion.

Do you feel able to talk to your friend about why she is so worried about kissing her boyfriend? We all start from the same place of never having kissed before - that is part of the excitement of it all.

She will be grateful to you for addressing her question whatever way you chose to respond.

You say no and then you tell her that you don't feel comfortable doing it. Tell her that to practice kissing, she has to practice with her boyfriend. Everyone - EVERYONE has a first time, including that boyfriend of hers.
