reader, anonymous, writes (8 November 2009): just a guess, but i'd say she knows and is protecting someone...maybe he is older and can get in legal trouble or hes married. If not then she has been very promiscious. Leave it alone. If she doesnt want to know, or want anyone else to know...you should respect that.

She does not have to take a DNA test, it's up to her unless a court orders it, but without a "father" pressing for it, which i doubt, I don't see many courts pressing the matter. Although, if an adult is a possible father and he lands in trouble for it, then the court may order a dna test.
Why does she think she can raise this kid on her own without the father? What is her reasons and does she expect her family to be there for her the whole 18 years of this kids life?

Thats intense!Well, obviously, figure it out HERSELF (With your help too)Make a list of all the guys she had sex with.IM HOPING THERE WILL BE LESS THEN TWO.And figure out if she had UN protected sex with any of them.if she did, you got dad.And if she had protected sex with all of them.Ask her if there were any doubts during the period she had sex, like the condoms tore, or something.Tell her MOM!Best of luck to her!
