A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

My friend copies me so much I started not even talking to her anymore that much cause of it! Like last year when Twilight first got popular ( Im in 8th grade 13 years old btw) she talked about it and said she loved it.

Then yesterday my other friend had a New Moon shirt and I was like I hate that shirt and we joked about it cause everyone knows I hate Twilight and my copy friend said she hates Twilight too! So me and my friend started asking why she liked it last year and she lied to us.

She carried around 2 Sports Illustrated magazines around from the library to pretend she likes sports when she doesn't! She "loves" football when she doesn't know what a quarterback is and never watches it.

I love Rob Dydrek and I told her he was a skateboarder and she was like oh ya I know isn't he like a skater guy? I told her who he was cause she didn't know in the first place.

I'm the biggest Tomboy at school litteraly I am and she pretends to be one. She's like Shandi I look like a boy today don't I? And she is wearing like a volleyball shirt, hoop earings, gold flats and a weird skirt. I wear basketball shorts, my brothers shirts cause I hate half my own clothes, some DC's or regular pants.

I play video games all the time and she said she prefers to play video games instead of watching TV when I said that! I asked her what games she plays and got mad at me for asking and said she doesn't know the names.

I love zombies so much so she acts like she does when she doesn't even know how there made and she is scared of scary movies and scary games.

have more guy friends then girl friends cause I can't take all the drama and she knows that. She told me she rarely hangs out with girls even though I always see her talking to them. She has no guy friends really.

Last year I liked a guy and still like him and now she likes him and just thought I don't like him anymore.

My favorite 2 stores are SunCoast and GameStop so she said those are her fav too when one time we went there together and she got bored and wanted to leave.

I can't take her anymore! What should I say to her and it doesn't feel like flattery to me! Just annoying...

Hi

Now you know the price of fame!

Well, yeah, about the help part. Invite her to your home someday or any place you guys will be comfortable chatting. And, then, tell her that you think that she is great the way she is and that you like her a lot, the way she is.

And, that these days she has been trying to change herself and that makes you wonder if there is something more to it.

That should do the trick and just say that you'd like her to be herself and her honest opinion. I think that she just needs a little reassurance and it quite normal for a teen to go through periods of self-doubt. If you truly are her friend then I am sure that you will help her out.

Now, what I am wondering is that instead of being amused by her antics, you are getting mad! Seriously, see the funny side of the things in this case.

But, hey, have that talk and tell her that you do like her as a friend.

Take Care

She just wants to be friends with you, why not just let her be. Also if she cramps your style then just dont hang out with her so much.

She might be jelous of all the attention your getting from the boys and is copying you to get it to. If she is shy around the guys maybe you can help her meet them and get to know them better.

I also dont like twilight lol, again with vampires... when are they going to make a movie about fish monsters

I can't see that your friend is really copying you exactly. Some people make friends by "agreeing" with them where you seem to like it better if people disagree with you...neither one of you are right or wrong.

I think she is trying to be your friend and wishes that you liked her and you may give off the vibe that you don't, or that you are so much cooler than she is, so you might be a bit of a snob. What is it that you are jealous of her for? It sounds to me like maybe you are mostly mad about her liking the same guy as you do and so you are blowing all this out of proportion.

Next time she says she likes something that you like and you don't think she really does, then reassure her that Hey you don't have to agree with me all the time, I think it is fine if you don't really care for football, what do your really like to watch? To have a friend you have to be a friend, so try to get to know the real her and give her some support for being herself.

And imitation is a sincere form of flattery.
