 if your friend only started liken him when he came single chances is she is just lookin for any guy to like her, but it sounds like you reaally do have feelings for him. so the best thing to do is tell your mate how u feel and she should understand, if she don't then the best thing 2 do is talk to the lad and see if he likes you back, and go from there. but if your mate does like him too and you don't wanna loose her as a friend then you may have to forget this guy, its up to you, is the guy worth it.

 I was in the exact same problem a couple years ago, what I did was come clean to my friend and tell her the whole truth - that I never stopped liking him - and my friend was angry at me for a while but then she realised something and we're still great friends :)
