A male reader, harshbutfair United Kingdom +, writes (24 November 2006):

harshbutfair agony auntHon, the important thing is not to let this get you down.

Some people, particularly white people with fair skin (or those with ginger hair) are prone to facial flushing (i.e. the capillaries in their face dilate easily and noticably).

Their faces will go red if they've had a hot shower, if they drink red wine, if they exercise heavily........ and if they get uncomfortable (e.g. embarrassment). I don't know where you're from but in the UK one of our Prices (we actually still have Kings and Queens here, you know!!), Prince Harry, has red cheeks and flushes easily. He has a beatiful girlfriend, is always out on the town and has graduated from a military acadamey and is now in the army so it certainly hasn't held him back.

DON'T let it affect how you behave or be ashamed of this trait. It's just the way your body and your skin reacts. I know lots of people who flush easily and some are the most confident people I've ever met. That said, many people blush easily when they're younger and it's just a phase that they go through. As you develop confidence situations that used to be stressfull and cause flushing no longer do so.

Some people who flush easily go on to develop rosacea, so you need to be careful with your skin by using gentle cleansers etc. and wearing sunblock in the sun.

Hope this helps.... AND HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGH AND BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE!

Harshy.
