writes: my girlfriend is 5 months pregnant with my child her ex husband has had a vasectomy they have recently got back together and live 60 miles away and are now saying the baby has nothing to do with me and if i contact them again they will in there words get me done for harrasment do i have any rights ?they was legally seperated ie she was claimbing as a single parent at the time i was with her

If she and the 'ex' as you put it are divorced then the answer is different than if they were only seperated (your words, but you call him an ex, please clarify).If they are divorced, even if they are back together now, then you can sue in court and if proven to be yours, get paternity rights, and PAY child support. You will probably cause a lot of dissention in their and the childs lives, so think carefully about this. If, however, they were only seperated, and are not divorced, then you have absolutly NO rights whatsoever. In the eyes of the law, the child is his, and no judge would ever grant a court order for DNA testing and disrupt a marriage. They could actually sue you for defamation and harrassment and all kinds of stuff. Not to mention you'd look like a real jerk for coming between a man and his wife, even if you were with her at some point.There's my 2 answers. Take action accordingly, but AFTER much thought.Good Luck.

reader, anonymous, writes (18 February 2008): If you are 100% sure the child is yours, get a DNA test done. If you are the dad you most certainly do have rights no matter what she or her ex hubby has to say.
