He told me that he needed space and we couldn't be friends. 3 weeks later I found out he was dating someone. My friend actually and I was hurt bad. I know that they weren't together when we were because she has always been obsessed with another guy. A month later they broke up and he called me to say he was sorry for everything. We started hanging out again but I still couldn't trust him. He kept telling me that right now he doesn't want to be with anyone and we should just see what happens. So one night I woke up for no reason and felt like I should call him and it turned out he got another DUI. (I know stupid) He asked me to come over and I did. I was there threw the first one and I really didn't want to do it again but I would because I love him. A couple months later he broke up with me again saying that we didn't work out the first time and we didn't this time either. So I gave him what he wanted. I only txt on xmas and his bday. He called me new years. Than I had a problem and I had to call to let him know. And he was a real jerk so I didn't talk to him again. Now 6 months later he called me to see how I was doing. Which I don't understand bc he told me that he can't be friends with exes. He said it would be difficult to hang but we could still talk. He asked me if I was seeing anyone and stuff about my life. Everyone said he would call again but he didn't until a month later for my bday and he hasn't called since. What does this mean? Did he just call to say hi or did it mean something else?I haven't called him but now I can't stop thinking about us. I feel crazy and dumb for thinking about someone who I don't believe cares about me. Can someone help. I just wanted someone elses opinion. Thanks.

 You're not crazy or dumb. I think this guy is just confused. I think he loves you, but he can't figure out if he wants to be with you.
Do you want to be with him? Consider everything you've gone through together, and the hot and cold you get from him. He seems to also have a problem with alcohol, and that causes a lot of back and forth, and alcoholics are very manipulative. Do you really want a life like that?
