He started me on an antidepressant called citalopram (aka celexa) and set me up with a therapist. There are a few things bothering me which led to feeling depressed, but the thing that bothers me the most is my lack of success with girls. I'm 25 and have no relationship experience. I've never had a girlfriend, never kissed, or held hands. Nothing beyond a friendly hug now and then.Things have been going fairly well I guess. The medication is still building up in my system, so I really can't say I notice a difference. I've also had a few appointments with my therapist. Can't say I'm really sure what I hope to accomplish by seeing him though. I have however noticed the side effects of my medication. Most are mildly annoying but can be put up with. The thing that's so frustrating though is that my sex drive has gone through the roof! Looking on the internet I find that most people say they have little to no sex drive on antidepressants, but I'm experiencing the exact opposite. And for somebody who's not getting any and isn't expecting to get any in the foreseeable future, it's driving me NUTS! I can take care of it myself, but that's just not doing it for me anymore. Anyone have any advice?

I JUST read an article in the spring 2011 Runner's World Special magazine. It was all about trail running and how one doctor prescribes trail running to his depressed patients. Endorphins are released when you exercise which can give a natural high and feeling of bliss. These endorphins cause people to remain in a good mood for up to 12 hour after exercise. Give trail running a try! It's a relatively inexpensive sport to get into and quite peaceful. You really do feel better after a good (trail) run. I'm an outdoors guy and I always feel amazing after a mountain bike ride or trail run.I know this doesn't answer your sex drive question. However, it's a natural way to feel better. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Well if its that much of a problem, go back to your doctor and have him prescribe you a different anti-depressant. They don't tend to be all that generic and one anti-depressant may work for one person, but not work on another... ya gotta find a right fit (apparently, but I'm no doctor).
Other than that, hating to be blunt, but you could use that extra sex drive as motivation to get out there and start meeting some girls... Every journey starts with a first step.
I'm just sayin'...
