My boyfriend is way too close with his brother!

Question - (9 February 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 9 February 2009)
A female Canada age 41-50, anonymous writes:

My boyfriend has referred to his brother as his heterosexual life partner - they currently own a house together. I don't want to suggest any distancing between the two, but I'm afraid of getting caught as piggy in the middle. Am I wasting my time here if my objective is on the serious side?

A male reader, StudentOfLife Canada +, writes (9 February 2009):

StudentOfLife agony auntBrothers is for life and girlfriend/boyfriend is ... well not what it used to be.

It might be this way for now but it will probably change later on. He, too, will want to be more with you than anybody else.

For the time being, it would be best not to mention anything and see where it goes. Asking someone to choose between you or something else it's like giving a dog the option between a bone or a steak. He truly wants the two, but will take what seems more appealing in the moment.
