A female United Kingdom age 30-35, *weet Dreamer xxx writes:

My boyfriend is driving me nuts! He is in the last year of college and seems to have a lot of work now, which I don't mind, I just want him to sucseed in life! But he is a nightmare when it comes to doing any work, when he is in school all he does is mess about with mates and never does any work. Which means when ever I want to see him he is always busy, I don't normanly mind as I work a lot, but it's starting to get bad, he only sees me 1 or 2 a week because he is so busy then the other day I asked if I could see him as it would be 3 years that we'd been dating for, he said he had work to. do but his mum told me that he had a mate around. obviously I wasn't very happy but let it slide. Then tonight he come over to make it up to me, but he got a call from a friend to give a town lift I had work in the morning so I fell asleep not wanting to be over tired. The next day I told him that I was just feeling used but he started having ago saying I'm controllive and that I don't care! I just don't know what the right thing to do is now? Shall I just let it slide or break up with him? I'm not sure if this is just a ruff patch or something starting to get serious! To be honest I'm not sure if I have already given up

Many thanks

A female reader, Moo's Mum New Zealand +, writes (5 May 2012):

Moo's Mum agony auntSorry sweetheart but he is obviously finding your relationship too much or he would be spending every possible spare moment with you. Try backing off completely. Arrange your own social life with your girlfriends and go out and have a bit of fun on your own. You will soon see whether the relationship is going to keep going by his reaction to your backing off. This will be hard for you to do but extremely necessary in my opinion.
