This might sound like I'm weird, but my boyfriend seems to fart alot. I know everyone does and it's a human thing, but sometimes I feel very embarrassed with him doing it in public. My questions is: Is he doing it because he doesn't care what other people think, or it's because there's nothing he can do to stop it. I know he doesn't do it on purpose, but the amount he fart makes me think it's some health problem. Is there anything I can do to help him?

my boyfriend whothe is 40 farts all the time as well i am only 28 and it has come as a shock to me that he feels he needs to fart constantly. He is just recovering from a bout of the squitters but i am sure he is just faking the symptoms now and uses it as an excuse to keep farting. The last one he did lasted a good 10 seconds and has done absolutely nothing for our sex life. I am at the end of my tether. Even in the middle of the night when apparently you have no sense of smell - i get woken up by the sweet smell of you have guessed it - a fart. We just have to accept that men fart its a fact of life, and we just have to put up with it.

David Lewis agony auntThere is nothing wrong with him, he is just being a guy.

Guys enjoy a good fart, nothing like it to clear the air, so to speak.

If you are not on the same level regarding his anal acoustics, then maybe a quiet word will do the trick.

If this fails, a cork and hammer work pretty well.

I am on anti-depressants, one of the side effects is flatulence. I must fart about 50 - 60 times a day. Luckily I find them funny, my guests do not.

Anti-depressant side effects which make you laugh, oh the irony.

midgetgem agony auntOh my god! This is an awkward one!!

You habe to talk to him about the public nature of his farts!!!

Explain to him in a very gentle manner that you're embarressed. It may be that he is too and he can't help it!

If this is the case I would suggest your boyfriend take some form of charcoal tablet. These absorb the wind and may help.

If it is something he just does because he doesn't care you need to explian that YOU do care and you'd rather he didn't.

Get him to try the tablets, if it doesn't work talk to him avout seeing a doctor.

I'm assuming he doesn't have really bad breath so it may not be bacterial as it can often manifest itself in this way.

Either way you do need to talk about it. I'd know I'd ne very embarrassed if mine decided to 'drop one' in polite company!
