We care about eachother alot but he doesn't do special things for me, i.e. send me flowers, gifts or even a card on my bday or christmas or do cute thoughtful things to make me feel special. He says being with one another should be enough but I notice he makes such a big deal about his friends' bdays but doesn't express the same for mine. Am I asking too much or is he just selfish?

I don't think your asking for too much . I mean, being in a long distance relationship is hard enough to deal with . No kissinq , huggin , no physical contact ! There's no physical affection theree he should at leat send flowers . Your not being shelfish , he is the one that needs to step up !

I would say hes being a bit selfish, he doesnt have to go mad with gifts and flowers but the odd one every now and again keeps a relationship a happy one as it shows he would be thinking of you.
I often supprise my girlfriend by having flowers delivered
