Shouldn't boss' be the other way around :sand finally i've practically become his agony aunt he tells me how much he hates his job and hours he works but now hes talking about he and his wife arguing all the time at home which to be honest i don't know what to say to that, in all fairness i am not a sympathetic person and he recieves none when he talks about it, but he still goes on.whats going on here?

No a boss shouldnt treat you this way, he shouldnt speak on a personal level to you especially about your life out of work and never should he put you down in front of others. If you are enjoying your job then fight this one, if you give in or change jobs he may do it to someone else, you need to stand up for what rights you have as an employee and no employee should be treated this way, whether you are late or not. Stand up, be strong get some back up and face this situation, its wrong. Hope this helps
