Most of the time things were great but the little nagging problems of our relationship stopped me from full climax sometimes. I kinda thought that was more of a female trait but apparently men can get the psychological orgasm phenomena as well. Good to know I was not alone. That relationship didn't work out by the way.  That last paragraph there could be it. One night stands are utterly without emotion (other than excitement). Maybe he's more sentimental than you realize and sex isn't just wild fun for him. Maybe he can't enjoy it fully unless he cares about the girl.
Barring that, I can tell you that my first girlfriend could not do it for me, and my second girlfriend simply wouldn't. Sometimes, you don't have to be GOOD, you just have to be willing to put in effort. I know that nothing is a bigger turn on for me than a girl that cares about what she's doing and wants to make it feel good, rather that just going through the motions.
