Today my mum confronted me, rather acused me, of having an ED (eating disorder) she heard be being sick yesterday. I am weight concious and i suppose to an extent i have an ED. Some days i try not to eat and others i binge then throw up (but i dont throw up alot, just every once in a while) but its not serious, its under control. She wants me to see a nurse or doctor and go to therapy because apparently i have underlying issues im not dealing with. I dont know what to do, how can i get her off my back? Im fine, im not bulimic or anorexic but shes worried about me. i really need some advice or comfort just anything please i feel so low =(

If you're sure that you don't have a problem, then it won't hurt to simply go and have an expert reassure your mum, will it?

But remember, if the expert does tell you anything important, you have to listen to them.

And dwelling on your weight or anything that makes you unhappy is the reason that you're feeling low... try to focus on the things that make you smile instead; make a list of the most fabulous things about your life. It always helps me when I'm feeling down.

eyeswideopen agony auntAs a mother I have to trust your mother's instinct on this one. Get checked out by your doctor and take his/her recommendation on therapy. Good luck and be grateful you have a mother who care so much, lots of people don't. Good luck.

cd206 agony auntDo it, even if it's only to please your mum and keep her off your back. Go to the doctor or therapy or whatever. To be perfectly honest, if you're throwing up even occassionally that's not normal eating behaviour and the fact that you say it's under control implies you want to have the control over it. Okay, my novice shrink skills are over now. Basically if you do as your mum says you get her off your back and get to find out if you have a problem or if you really do have it under control. Therapy isn't that bad though it takes some getting used to. Take control here, you can do it!
