I prefer to spend it outdoors, like going to the nearby park or sports such as cycling or walking, whilst she prefers to go shopping or eat out. Our varied opinions/choices don't really bother me as we are all different after all. But what annoys me is the fact that she says that the stuff that I do is a 'no-brainer' and 'time wasting'. She also uses the crime rates and danger to back up her point but I don't think you should put those factors in the way so much, otherwise you don't enjoy yourself in life. I have friends who will do my kinda stuff with me but as they have their own lives and we can't always hang out, I have to spend it with my Mum. She finds me childish for liking that sort of thing and, even though I am at a moving out age, it is rather hard for me at the moment as I don't have much money and I am currently still studying. Please help :)

Right, well if she is going to fight dirty with statistics then you should play her at her own game.
Around one in four men and one in three women in the UK are overweight, according to government statistics.
An estimated 70% of adults in the UK do not do enough exercise.
This website clearly shows that if you eat out a lot, then you are piling on the calories. Pick something she likes and then quote it at her when she tries to quote crime stats.

Crime rates in the UK haven't really changed that much since the 70's. However, fear of crime has shot through the roof.
Tell your mum that if she wants to spend a lot of money on getting fat then that is her choice, but you don't want diabetes by the time you are 30, since she is risking losing limbs, blindness, and premature death.
Just stand up to her and tell her you accept that she doesn't like the real outside world but you do, and you'd rather go and have fun than see going out following her round shops as a weekly chore.
Good Luck!! xx
