A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

My period is due in the next couple of days, but last night my boyfriend and I had a problem with a condom. It basically stayed in me as he pulled out, it looked as though all the semen was inside it, but I took the morning after pill as an extra safety caution. I was told u may get stomach cramps, etc with the pill. But as I am due on my period I can't tell if the cramps i have are just the usual pmt or if it's too do with the pill? I did start getting cramps the other day, so I'm presuming it's my period coming on. Even though I took the morning after pill I am still worrying and getting myself worked up. Any advice will be very grateful.

ok so i am slightly confused, bearing in mind i took the pill Saturday morning 7 hrs after the accident and my period was due today and i got pmt cramps yesterday and then woke up to find a really light period. But i am just wondering if this is my period or if it is just the M.A.P doing it's job.

Anyone had a similar experience?

Cupid_or_Stupid agony auntThis happened with me and my boyfriend however I didn't take any other precautions. If you're that close to your period it's quite unlikely you're pregnant. The cramps are probably a bit of both the pill working and your period pains. When I was in this situation I got myself worked up too and convinced myself I was pregnant despite having my period a fortnight later. My boyfriend eventually convinced me to take a test to prove to myself I wasn't. Maybe you should do the same because sometimes that's what you need to settle you. Hope that helped. :)

Alden Plows agony auntFirstly smile (:

Helps everything

then second what you need to do is calm down, i know this is very stressful for you but take your mind off it by keeping busy because the less you worry the happier you'll be which is what you want right?

The whole period & pill thing is very complicated and its hard to tell anything from the signs. I had a lot of problems with my ex girlfriend and they were very similar so i know where your coming from. But yeah so dont worry about it and give it sometime you've done all you can so just wait, keep busy and good luck! (:

person12345 agony auntYour period might be off for at least one cycle, so you shouldn't worry if you don't get it on time this month. The stomach cramping they refer to as a side effect is really stomach, as in it upset some people's stomachs, not as in period type cramping. They would feel different. Like the pains you get during indigestion or if you have the stomach flu not like you would get for period. So if you feel like you have cramps from your period, it's not from the pill it's because you're about to start your period.

The Realist agony auntIt sounds to me that you should be just fine and need to wait to see if you get your period. The pill may cause some changes because it is a pretty powerful thing but it's effectiveness wouldn't have changed. If you are worried then wait till after you period and then take a pregnancy test if that will ease your mind.
