He wants to meet up in a few weeks, but i'm so shy around new people and never know what to say or how to start conversations and always make it awkward. Any tips or advice please?

He's a good friend of your best friend and you haven't met IRL over the years.....
where are you going to meet? make it public and meet him there... no getting in a car with someone you don't know...
start with HELLO
and you can even say "I'm so nervous" and he will probably be too....
and then talk about things like
work
school
pets
hobbies

Normally i would tell you it isn't a good idea to meet with someone you met on the internet; but as long as someone you know knows him, its a little bit safer. Try going to the movies with a couple people, like a double date. i know being shy can seem like a curse, but sometimes guys like quiet girls.
hope that helps
