Hi, I'm 26 yrs old and am a doctor. In fact, am doing my residency. I married my childhood sweetheart three years ago and we're going on just fine. I've had crushes on female celebs before in my teens but I've never looked at a real woman in a sexual way. Well that is..till about a month back! I found this nurse who is two years younger to me suddenly flirting with me and she would rub up against me at every opportunity. And I find myself responding to it..I find myself tearing through my clinic duty so I could get back to the ward just to be around her.. I told myself maybe I was bi and it wouldnt hurt to have a bi fling with her..Now I just discovered that she's also married and PREGNANT!!. That just freaked me out. We come from a very conservative country and she is a Pentecost Christian and both of us have a lot at stake if this doesnt work. Thankfully, I have been posted in a different department now so I dont have to see her daily. But deep down inside, my feelings for her havent changed and i find myself hanging around places just to see her. She makes all the right moves and openly flirts when no one is around but then I really dont know where we are going with that sorta thing? And I dont know how far she is willing to come? Would it be better for me to just ignore these feelings and well, if it was just a crush then they would go away or should I just play along and see where this takes us? Am really confused and its been reflecting on my academics and quality of work.

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (6 August 2010):

You might well find her pregnancy is what is causing her to be like this (I'm sure you'd understand that being a doctor). Now you're a doctor, so you're smart. Remain smart and pull away from her. This is a pregnant woman who is married. Her child and family is what is at steak. And your marriage to your childhood sweetheart is as well. This crush will go away if you get back to your work, and get back to your marriage. If you don't, you'll end up divorced and unhappy with a job that will be hugely demanding hanging over your head. She will end up a single mother with nothing. You'll all be working in the same area and it will make things hard for you. Worst of all, if it does go wrong, your quality of work could fall through the floor and you could lose it or screw someone else's life up. You're a smart girl. Don't throw everything away! Go home, work on your marriage, and get back to work saving people.
