To be honest I think domain3 really explained everything there is to know there. Do ask him what he likes though. You could even say you are feeling awkward about doing it and you could let him guide you through it. Ok, you need to have good visual skills to work your way through what I going to say.....maybe gross but its worth it. First, though guys really love it when a girl deep throats them, it typically causes us to gag...so before your gag reflex has a chance to kick in, the very first time you take him in your mouth, take it all the way in as deep as you can so make sure youre moist and hes wet.....that is a brilliant start.  Honestly, we are not the right people to ask. Guys like different things, and he surely has his own preference for what you do. Ask him to guide you and control the movement of your head, and gently tell you what he wants you to do. Then follow his directions. A few tips:
Make sure your mouth isn't dry
Start off slow until you and him get a little more worked up. Don't try to take all of him in at once.
