writes:hey everyone im really down right now i moved to cali about three months ago to live with my father and left all my friends behind and yada yada but i have been lonely all summer no friends no nothing people here think your a freak if you ask them out after flirting wit them at a mall and your there alone well i have no friends so its not like i have somekind of group to hang with all i really need right now is a friend you know im stuck here everyday and usually i talk a lot with my friends but now that im so alone with no one to talk to i have all this energy and cant sleep its driving me insane and i even spent my bday alone friendless my sixteenth bday and not even my family in san diego wants to call me its awful and im a great guy i get good grades a little rebellious an athletic figure i just need a friend so badly someone plz help me out! plz some advice on what i can do

Awww, sorry you are so lonely. I know just how you feel! I am an American living in the UK and trying to make some friends myself! I think the idea about the athletic club is a good one, or try shooting some hoops at the local basketball courts and see if you can join someone's game. You could try some websites like www.meetup.com and see if there are any local groups you could join or try your local public pool or community center. I know it's no consolation over the summer, but it will be easier to make friends once school starts. It may sound like a long time to wait, but try to keep yourself busy if you can and the time will fly over. Hang in there!
