I would agree with her if you had not said boyfriend. By calling it bf/gf, you're signifying committment. And if you aren't ready for that, then dating is most certainly what you need to be doing.

So you don't want to hurt him if this other guys says "no" and you're screwed but it's okay to hurt him if you can be with this other guy because hey.. at least you're happy?

I'm sorry to be harsh, but currently you are hurting your boyfriend, the poor boy just doens't know it yet.

If you can't be emotionally faithful to him than i think you should let him go. Or at least be honest with him and give him the chance to have some dignity and leave himself.
