Well to be honest, you cant really do that much more to make it special. As long as you both love each other very much you should find it special.
I know this doesn't go for everyone but my first time wasn't sore at all. I had done other things like get fingered, oral etc and I honestly believe that by doing those things it meant it didn't hurt as much.
Anyway, just go slow and relax!! Your first time is never going to be your best time but you'll get used to it and then you can enjoy it!!
