LDR: What am I doing wrong?

A female South Africa age 41-50, *licia writes:

I am in a long distance relationship. Normally we send eachother text messages in the morning at lunch and in the vening before going to be. Lately I am increasingly feeling that I am putting more effort into it. Sending mor messages calling and letting him know if I go somewhere where there is no signal. I find that he doesn’t do the same and I am feeling like he puts no effort doing it because even though he is with me I am not worth that much effort. Just now I have sent him an sms twice and he hasn’t responded and his phone is off. I just feel like I am not as important to them as they are to me and they don’t care at all. In one of my previous relationships I never had to ask to get a call coz he always called at the right time. Whats wrong with me. Are these guys telling me that I am not that important to them. I feel like even if I was sick they would leave me and pay attention to someone else coz I’m not that important. What am I doing wrong??? If theydont respond should i just stop calling them? coz i also feel like if i dont call them they will never call me. i dont know what to do......

A reader, anonymous, writes (21 October 2008):

Let him "chase" you. Stop calling and texting him. Wait for him to make contact. Don't let him get the idea or impression that you are desperate.

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (21 October 2008):

The problem with an LDR is that he could be in the shower or driving and you don't know that so you are freaking out.

Try calling less and if he doesn't call then it wasn't meant to be.

Why don't you find someone who is not far away? It sounds like you prefer that constant attention that it is so hard to get from a long distance thing.

Good Luck!! xx
