Husband wont have a vasectomy but he thinks I should have hysterectomy (which is major surgery compared to vasectomy).Just wondering if others could share their birth control solutions.

You don't do a hysterecomy for birth control.
I had a tubal and it is 100% effective if done properly.
You have to do it in three parts
Cut the tubes
cauterize the tubes
crimp (tie) the tubes
just crimping them or just cutting them or just burning them is not enough
I had my tubes tied as listed above at age 33. I've never gotten pregnant. I'm 51 now. I still get a period....

Your husband sounds like an ass, sterilization surgery for men is allot safer, less invasive and less expensive than a tubal ligation. I don't know about Australia but in the US you can't just get a hysterectomy without a medically necessary reason to justify the need for one. He just wants you to be steril and not have periods anymore, menstruation is the female fountain of youth so to speak by the way and you don't want to bring on early menopause if you don't have a medical need to do so. As far as the Dr not advising tubaligation because it's not 100% effective, that sounds like rubbish too! Sure, nothing is 100% effective especially when using fische clips and rings but tubaligation is more effective than oral birth contraceptives and is frankly far safer since you are now in your forties your risk of blood clots alone is higher than a woman in her twenties and thirties would be on the same dose/strength.I don't know how much control and authority you have in a country that has a social medical system but if I were you I'd look for another Dr. One that wouldn't deny you a sterilization that you obviously want and need. Pregnancy in your 40's tho not impossible would be problematic and high risk and possibly unwanted to say the least. You can also decrease the failure rate by insisting on the Pomeroy tubalization which in the US means both fallopian tubes have been cut, tied and burnt, no clips and rings to become dislodged or cause adverse reactions as foriegn bodies can cause in some people. Good luck.

Having a hysterectomy is rediculous its major surgery and is usually only done when your health is affected badly by not having it done - not as a form of birth control.
I would say either you or your husband get steralised
