reader, anonymous, writes (27 August 2008): Honestly, to shave or not to shave is not up to him. Guys are lucky to get any, let along tell the girl what to do. But some guys like it really clean down there... no smell it is much cleaner and you won't leave hair on the soap.

Some like it all shaved (full Brazillian), some with some hair (and a shape to go along with it, if they desire), some others like it trimmed, and others like it full bush.
But at your age, I would really recommend you to just keep it trimmed. Most women in the U.S have it trimmed anyways, so you won't be the only one. If you want, you could try to trim it really short (close to the labia) to give it an illusion of being shaved, BUT you have to be EXTREMELY careful when doing this as if you snip some of your skin, it will burn incredibly, trust me.
Also, I know that it's not my place so ask, but are you sure you want to get into the next step? I'm in NO way saying this because of your age, but because you can't even ask him how he would want your vagina to look like. Sex should be between two people who are very connected and trust each other. But like I said, it's not my place, and it's totally your decision. Just make sure it's YOURS and YOURS only, and not from your boyfriend's or peer pressure.
Also, when the moment happens, use a condom ALWAYS. I'm telling you, I know it's very tempting to just do it right there, but it's better to just be prevented.
